It feels great to receive a tax refund!
Many taxpayers think of it as an unexpected bonus or use it as a savings account ~
but the IRS does not pay interest on the money you get back.
If you received a big refund, you are giving Uncle Sam an interest free loan of your money.
Why not consider adjusting your withholding by changing your W-4
and/or estimated payments to give yourself
a little extra money each paycheck instead . Or consider contributing more to your deductible retirement-savings plan.
This would be a good time to think about ways to cut your taxes for 2009.
If you want to deduct charitable donations, make sure you have
proof of all gifts, no matter how small.
If you make cash contributions make sure to get a receipt
so you have a record of your donation.
